Dr. Lin Hightower is a certified hypnotherapist who holds certifications from the American Council of Hypnotherapy Examiners (ACHE), the National Guild of Hypnotists, and the Atlanta Center for Hypnotist Training (ACHT), where she obtained her Medical and Clinical Hypnotherapist Master Certification.
She offers hypnotherapy to clients seeking to change limiting behaviors and beliefs, which is a quicker route to achieving permanent change compared to traditional talk counseling.
Dr. Hightower has personally experienced talk therapy counseling and found it beneficial. However, as a hypnotherapy client, she discovered a life-changing aspect of the brain that she had not tapped into during talk counseling. Hypnotherapy is similar to a deep guided meditation of mindfulness, allowing the client to remain in control. She embraced the opportunity to take charge of her own life and goals.
During her hypnotherapy training, she observed surgery being performed without anesthesia at Woolfson Eye Center in Atlanta, GA, where doctors and nurses utilized hypnotherapy. Through her hypnotherapy courses and practice, Dr. Hightower has witnessed numerous behavioral changes in people's lives as they address various needs and goals through hypnosis.
Her areas of expertise in hypnotherapy include pain mitigation, weight loss, smoking cessation, enhancing sports, sales, and academic performance, coping with grief and life transitions, managing stress, anxiety, fears, and phobias, improving public speaking, networking, and confidence, enhancing work and personal relationships, improving sleep, and addressing syndromes such as fibromyalgia, blood pressure, IBS, and Crohn's. She also provides additional support to healthcare providers. Specific inquiries regarding life needs are welcome.
In-person and virtual hypnotherapy sessions are available. Dr. Hightower has local clients in St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as clients in several other states and abroad.
Dr. Hightower holds two terminal degrees: an Ed.D. in Education and an M.F.A., Master of Fine Arts. She is a professor emeritus and a three-time US Fulbright Award recipient. Throughout her 30-year career as a university administrator and professor, she taught in the Schools of Arts and Design at three universities and one college. In this capacity, Dr. Hightower also provided preliminary intake and assessment notes to campus psychologists and psychiatrists based on her 1-6 meetings with students, families, staff, and faculty seeking help. The needs she witnessed over the years led her to recognize the value that hypnotherapy can offer for successful life change.
